Privacy policy
Night's Watch processes text locally so you can review sensitive spans before inserting text into supported AI tools. The extension does not send your pasted text to the developer.
What the extension handles
Night's Watch temporarily handles text that you actively paste into an editor on a supported destination. That text may contain user-generated content, website or form content, personal communications, identifiers, authentication information, financial information, health information, or other sensitive material.
How the text is used
The packaged MiniLM model, tokenizer, deterministic rules, and ONNX Runtime Web assets process the text in memory on your device. The only purpose is to detect candidate sensitive spans, show a local Mask-or-Keep preview, and insert the result you approve into the same editor.
Collection, transmission, and sharing
- The extension does not transmit pasted text to the developer, a remote model, analytics, advertising, or telemetry service.
- The extension does not persist pasted text or scan results in extension storage, browser storage, or a developer-controlled database.
- The developer does not sell user data or permit humans to read pasted text.
- The reviewed text is inserted into the destination selected by you. That destination operates under its own privacy terms.
Destination-page boundary
A supported destination is part of the trust boundary. Browser page JavaScript may observe the original paste event before document-level interception. Night's Watch therefore does not claim clipboard secrecy or protection from a malicious destination page.
Retention
The extension does not intentionally retain pasted text after the in-memory scan and review lifecycle ends. It has no account system, remote content store, extension-storage path, or content analytics.
Permissions and supported sites
The extension runs only on the HTTPS AI-tool destinations declared in its manifest. It does not request browsing-history, clipboard, cookie, location, camera, microphone, or background permissions. Site access is used only for user-initiated paste review and reviewed insertion.
Failure behavior
If the local scanner, model, or WebAssembly runtime cannot complete, the original paste is restored unchanged so the user's workflow is not blocked. Privacy protection is unavailable for that failed paste.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Chrome APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User data is used only to provide the extension's disclosed single purpose.
Changes
Material changes to data handling will be disclosed before a release that introduces them. The effective date and policy version above identify the current policy.
